A one Ruby Paul Harris Fellow and Benefactor of the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, Deinde joined The Rotary Club of Gbagada in 1994

He served the club as Chairman of various committees and as President in the 2000-01 Rotary year

He was twice named Rotarian of the year in the club (1995-95 and 1999-2000)

He is a recipient of several District honours and recognitions from past District 9110 administrations for meritorious service to humanity through Rotary

He attended the RI Institute in Anaheim, California, USA- February, 2001, Birmingham 2009, GETS and Zonal Institute in Seychelles October 2009 and the International Assembly in San Diego, January 2010

Other RI meetings he has attended include, Presidential Celebrations Cape Town, South Africa 2001 and Abuja, Nigeria 2003 and the Rotary Foundation Seminar, Accra. 2003

He has attended nine RI conventions and all RI 9110 conferences since he joined Rotary

He is a member of the International Computer Users Fellowship of Rotarians (ICUFR) and Life member of the Fellowship of Rotarian Physicians

He is listed on the Roll of Honour at The Rotary Centre, RID 9110


 

 

 

 

Autobiography

 

Dr. Matthias Oladeinde Shoga was born on the 12th June 1960 in Epe. Lagos State.

His parents were Micheal Adepitan Shoga and Regina Adepeju Shoga both of blessed memory (both Paul Harris fellows), were health professionals.

Deinde had his secondary school education at Loyola College, Ibadan passing out in 1976 withy flying colours. He also attended The Polytechnic, Ibadan where he successfully studied for the Cambridge/WAEC Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations from 1976 to 1978. After this he gained admission to The College of Medicine, University of Lagos from where he graduated in 1983 with the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. (M.B;B.S.)

He served as an intern at Adeoyo State Hospital, Ibadan, and also as a National Youth Service Corps Member at Sauki Hospital Suleja/Abuja in 1984/85 when the new Federal Capital Territory was in the early development years.

He worked briefly as Medical Officer II at the Department of Medicine, General Hospital, Lagos before he was employed by the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi as a resident doctor and trained as a Surgeon specialising in Orthopaedics & Traumatology.

As part of his training he also worked at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba and had a brief stint at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center, Tel Aviv. Isreal.

He is a Fellow of The West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) and also Fellow of The International College of surgeons (FICS).
Dr. Shoga is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Special Grade I with The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) as well as Lecturer in Surgery at the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM).

He has served as Member Governing Board of The Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu. (OOUTH).

He served as Secretary to the Medical subcommittee during the World Youth Soccer Championships (Nigeria 99) and the 2000 African Nations Cup (Nigeria/Ghana 2000).

 

He is a member of several professional associations namely:

National Orthopeadic Association. (NOA)

Medical and Dental Consultants Association. (MDCAN)

African Union of Sports Medicine. AUMS.

National Orthopeadic Asoociation. (NOA)

World Federation of Sports Medicine.

Societe Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopedique et de Traumatologie (SICOT).

 

He has attended several courses and conferences both locally and internationally in the pursuit of his professional interests.

He is happily married to IWM Abimbola Shoga a Paul Harris fellow and the past Treasurer International Inner Wheel District 911. The marriage is blessed with three children.

Deinde enjoys listening to classical and Jazz music, watching the game of soccer and plays badmington.
