WHAT TO NOTE THIS ACTION YEAR

For Club presidents, Club officers, Lieutenant and Assistant Governors, Fellow Rotarians. Major initiatives, plans and projects for the year.

The ultimate aim as often stated is to make our clubs amd by extension our district Bigger, Better and Bolder. To this end clubs are enjoined to keep these in mind as they roll out their plans in the new year.

Don't forget the six Presidential emphases.

1. Make use of the Presidential citation document to fashion out your projects to qualify for a presidential citation at the end of the year.

2. Keep members informed. Have a member review your bulletin at every meeting and set aside two other meetings every month to review the Governor's Newsletter and the Rotarian. Encourage them to visit the RI web site.

3. Keep in mind that our membership emergency is still on. Continue to emphasise member recruitment and retention. Clubs should aim at achieving at least 40% growth.

4. We are in first year of the pilot stage of the Future Vision Plan of the Rotary Foundation. We need projects that make great impact to make it worthwhile. Think! Apply for the district and global grants.

5. The Rotary Foundation needs money to keep going. Contribute via EREY, PHFs, Benefactors, Major donors, Major gifts. Encourage Rotarians, invite friends and relations. Promote and join the Paul Harris Society.

6. We shall revamp our old practice of full involvement in NIDS and support contributions to the polio eradication funds.

One special proposal to bolster this is the "small change collection" program. Prepare now and gather all the coins and small change from foreign currencies arising from your travels.

- Plan good publicity for your projects. (Further information on our PR initiatives and PR plans will be unveiled as a follow up to the PR seminar).

- Remember that the New Generations have assumed added significance now that it is a fifth avenue of service. Support your Interact and Rotaract clubs beyond mere words or intentions.

- We shall all be supporting reliefs to foreign countries in cases of natural disaster. In view of this, all clubs are enjoined to start setting aside fund for this purpose.

- We require member to join the district disaster relief corps. Prepare your minds to volunteer when the time comes, nominate a member from your club and send their names to the District office.

- Prepare to support and participate in District Projects.

- Extend the concept of "We Care" to your members. The district will take the lead by recognizing birthdays and anniversaries of members. (send your club members birthday for subsequent months to the Editor for publication).

- Train and develop leaders for your clubs by nominating them for Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) programs.

- Publicise RI meetings, our district conference and the 2011 New Orleans convention.

Zonal Institute and GETS take place in Uganda 14-19th September.

Polio plus summit takes place in Abuja from 20-22 September 2010 with RI President in attendance.
